The characters in League of Dungeoneers are quite detailed. Each hero has a set of basic stats and a number of skills based on which of the 4 races and 8 professions you have chosen. As you level up you can then choose from a list of over 100 talents and perks to further customize your hero.
But time spent in the dungeons might not only give new skills, it might also give horrid memories resulting in disorders such as claustrophobia, arachnophobia or acute stress syndromes causing the heroes to become less effective in certain situations.
There are several add-ons to the basic game that help enhance the experience and make this game even more rewarding to play. Here I present three of them but there are many more.
3D doors can be added to replace the door tokens provided in the game. This set will give you 10 closed and 15 open doors which is enough for a really large dungeon. Doors in this game can be both locked and trapped so you need to approach them carefully. Opening a locked door will either require lock picks and the skill to use them or you could go for brute force and break down the door. However, any creature on the other side will be aware of your apporach and the threat level will increase.
400 standees to cover all the 100 different monster and heroes of all professions, but male and female. These standees are designed by Diego from PaperMage and Kevin from Kev’s Lounge and are of top quality. With beautiful imagery, differnt front and back and thick cardboard you won’t find a finer set of standees.
With these set of metal coins you can collect your loot in style. After all, this is one of the most important parts of dungeon crawling. Serioulsy though, have a set with 92 metal coins like this reduces the amout of bookkeeping during a quest. This coins shown here are 3D printed versions of the design, so any defects seen here will not be availible on the end product. They will come in 3 different colurs with values of 1, 5, 10, 100 and 500.
This expansion introduces mercenaries, dogs and familiars to the game.
Mercenaries can be hired as an alternative to bringing heroes on your quest. If you are playing solo, a game with one hero and 3 mercenaries will require less bookkeeping as the mercenaries don’t gain XP or lose sanity. You control their actions, but they fight in the same way as your enemies without hit areas and with a defence value rather than dodge and parry options. Choose from 15 named mercenerias or generic mercenaries from all professions.
Buy dogs to accompany you on your quest. Your faithful companion can be chosen from 2 different breeds and will gain experience and skills just as you do.
Wizards can now buy familiars to strengthen their magic power. Choose from 13 different familiars granting you different magical boons, but also other benefits. If you and your familiar will live long enough, your bond will strengthen and so will the benefits.
